Mars in Cancer: Say Bye-Bye!

I have a feeling I’m not the only one counting the hours until Mars moves into fun-loving Leo. It happens at 4:20 p.m. EDT tomorrow, May 9. We’ve been dealing with Mars in Cancer, with the exception of a month-long retrograde back into Gemini during the month of January, since Sept. 29, 2007. Enough already!

Mars is the planet of energy. In my humble opinion, it gets bogged down in family disputes when it travels through Cancer. We can’t help ourselves. We turn into screaming infants. We want our Mommy!

This infantile vibe has been amplified by the recent opposition of Jupiter in Capricorn to Mars in Cancer.

One good thing about Mars in Cancer is that it’s a good time to remodel your home or make a big move that entails sorting through all the junk you’ve accumulated over the years. Since Cancer is a water sign, any renovations that involve water — kitchen, bathroom, swimming pool — are favored.

So now that you’ve got the new pool in, have a picnic or barbecue for Mother’s Day. Mars in Leo is a fire sign, so dust off the Weber grill! Mars in Leo is going to start out squaring the Taurus Sun and move to an opposition with Neptune on June 21. But until the red planet leaves Leo on July 1, I’ve got one word for you: Party! (Please pronounce par-tay!).
