Waiting for Wall Street’s Auto da Fe

Remember those T-shirts after the beginning of the Iraq Invasion that said: “Where is the outrage”? Well, the outrage is has arrived.

Those opposed to American adventurism on foreign shores or Israeli’s war in Gaza may be disappointed to learn that the anger seems to be directed at Wall Street’s criminals, not at America’s generals or its client states.

I don’t think the public is going to let Bernie Madoff and company off the hook.

This morning found me reading about that crowd-pleaser of the Spanish Inquisition, the auto da fe.

Imagine a crowd gathered around the New York Stock Exchange, where those who have stolen billions from innocent investors repent for their sins before being burned at the stake. Impossible to imagine? You be the judge.
