Well, despite my dire predictions for the April employment data due out today, the news is better than economists were expecting. Maybe the numbers weren’t too bad because today’s Saturn station, which I’ve been calling a bummer, is being offset by helpful trines to Pluto in Capricorn and Venus in Taurus, forming a lovely grand trine in earth.
As someone who spent a lot of time studying statistics, I will quote Public Enemy and say “Don’t believe the hype.” If you want the real scoop on today’s unemployment data and the changes in methodology that are leading to distortions, please click here to read Barry Ritholtz’s take.
You can find him on my blogroll under The Big Picture. In addition to doing a kick-ass job of covering the economy and uncovering the obfuscations of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Ritholtz provides you with interesting book and music recommendations. A man for all seasons!
